iPod earbuds

My ears must be misshapen, because I can NOT get those tiny little earbuds that come with the iPod to stay put! I've only had my iPod for 5 days, but those things have fallen out at least a dozen times. Am I the ONLY one who has this problem? I don't think so...

For Christmas, I bought Brett some of the ones that have a shield-type hook that go all the way around the ear. He uses them for working out. I tried them on, and even THOSE don't fit me. I'm tempted to go back to the old-school foam ones with the headband. They are pretty dorky, though, so I may try to tough it out.

So at Wal-mart today, I bought some new ones for $3.96 at the "impulse aisle" near checkout. And let me tell you, they seem to be perfect!! They have some kind of rubber stuff around the edge that helps them cling to my ears. I love it. Now if only they had the much-needed 'L' and 'R' so I won't get them mixed up. You can't have everything, I guess....

I also bought a $10 iPod dock. It's nothing fancy, but it should get the job done. It will work for the time being. I am excited about my new purchases. Now if only my clearanced $5 Vera Bradley case would arrive.... I will be stylin'

:)

These are similar to the ones I bought. Only mine weren't bedazzle-y. If only I had seen THESE! I would seriously be styling... I think the green are my fav.

RETRACTION: These ear buds suck! I actually tried them out and they stayed in just fine, but the sound kept cutting out!! So much for a good deal... I guess $3.96 WON'T buy you a good set of buds. Too bad...

Squirrels

Snopes.com is my favorite website for killing time. It is an "urban legend" website. The author researches rumors and myths and tries to give a straight answer about the origins. It sounds crazy and tabloid-ish, I know, but it is very entertaining! Well anyway, they have a section titled "Daily Snopes", which has crazy newspaper articles from around the world.

Today, while sifting through the articles, I found a story about a purple squirrel found by a school. Here is the link. Its nuts! A purple squirrel! How crazy is that??

It reminds me of the wacky squirrels at SIU. First of all, they are massive. These are some of the largest squirrels you will ever see in your life. Second, they are fearless. They will just walk right on up to you and not think a thing of it. Normal squirrels are skittish. Normal squirrels try to avoid humans. Normal squirrels don't throw nuts at you! Yep...I've been bombarded by an SIU squirrel. Crazy... I'm telling you, those squirrels are hyped up on cigarettes and Starbucks. I'm pretty sure people feed them leftover chicken McNuggets, too.

Apparently today's squirrels are addicted to caffeine and nicotine and, oh yeah, they're purple! What is the world coming to? Seems to me that it may be time to start take better care of our Earth.

Remember, people: Don't litter, and don't feed the squirrels!

Sad News...

A boy I grew up with died this morning in a car accident. Our parents were very close friends when we lived in England. In fact, our fathers were very close friends in high school. Both of his parents are from Sesser. Anyway, we all spent a lot of time together when we little kids together in England. Trick-or-treating, Christmas, Thanksgiving, Mother's Day..all of that. Actually, I stayed at their house the night Andrew was born.

My dad woke me up this morning and told me he got a call from Lisa's sister. Lisa is Tyler's mother, and her sister still lives in the area. Actually, her sister dated my dad's twin brother not too long ago, but that is irrelevant. She said that he was coming home (from the movies, maybe?) in poor weather, when the driver lost control around a curve. Tyler was thrown from the car and died later at the Emergency Room.

It is so strange to think about it.. I have only seen him a couple of times since living in England, but I felt like I knew him so well. When we went on vacation in Florida a couple of years ago we went out to dinner with them and around town. (They live in Florida now.) He was so much older, he didn't seem like the same person. I keep picturing the little boy I grew up with.

It is just so sad. The driver wasn't even hurt in the accident. I can't imagine how he must feel. I am guessing that Tyler wasn't wearing his seat belt. This is his senior year; he would have been 18 in February. He had already joined the Air Force for after graduation.

Always, always, always wear your seat belt.

Good News!

Brett found a spare keychain in a drawer at home! I now have a very attractive key chain with something about advertising on it.

I just love it. I also love that I now have a safe ring for all of my keys!

Yay, Brett! :)

Good Grief...

Oh my goodness gracious...

I started this blog OVER A YEAR AGO! I got ONE post on here before abandoning the entire thing. Can you believe that? I can.....

Well this time it is going to be different. This time I am going to blog all the time! This time I am going to keep a good record of my days! Well, at least I hope so.. SO here goes:

I got an iPod for Christmas! From Brett Alan! Yay! I was so excited for it too. It is yellow and small and cute and wonderful. Right now I am uploading all of my CD's into iTunes. Which is only about 5 CDS. I am very picky about the CD's I buy. So far I have Taylor Swift, Beatles #1 Hits, Ingram Hill, Beach Boys #1 Hits, and Michael Buble. It is quite a varied collection. Right now Penny Lane is playing. Oh, I loved LOVE. It was the best show ever. Anyway...

Last night Brett and I went to see the curious case of Benjamin Button. It was very interesting. I really enjoyed it. Its all about time and opportunities and second chances. 'Carpe Diem,' I say! On the way home Brett and I had a very intellectual conversation about the theme and moral of the film. Haha... the above is all we came up with. Regardless, I recommend it to everyone who likes to watch Brad Pitt get better and better looking with each passing minute.

THE MOST AGGREVATING THING happened when we got home! I went to get my giant key ring out of my brand new purse (Thanks, Val!) and all of my keys were on it, EXCEPT MY CAR KEY! It was so confusing. After a few seconds, we discovered that the "cheap key ring" had broken. We searched all over (in the dark, with the help of Brett's blue key ring flashlight). We looked in the ignition, went inside, I turned out my pockets, emptied my purse, and found nothing! I was convinced that the key was lying in the floor of the theatre. But we went back outside and looked in the car one last time, where we saw the key lodged in between the belt buckle and the middle console. Too bad I always lock my car..

So now my father and I are going to go break into my car to retrieve the key. Yikes. Lets hope it works...
